Hello and welcome to Interpreting in the Religious Setting. In order to access the course pages, you need to be a registered student or invited guest. If you are a registered student, the first initial of your first name plus the first 7 letters of your last name will be your Student ID. Your password will be your social security number, minus the hyphens. You can use the page http://www.jal.cc.il.us/ipp/relterp/index.html to find your way around the course. You will find that the lessons and other resources are listed under the "lessons" link. I will be uploading a new lesson each week of this course. I will also be uploading a forum for the week and a bulletin board for the week as well. Both forums and bulletin boards are keyed to discussion topics found in the lessons. Participation in forums and bulletin board discussions counts for a significant portion of your final grade. To find out how this course will be graded, visit the syllabus link. There will also be chat available for any topic you choose. More information about the chat option will be posted at a later date. For you who are RID certified interpreters and wish to get CEU's for your participation in this course, you can get in touch with your local CMP Administrator (if you are from another state), or e-mail Arlinel Weddington, Illinois RID's CMP Administrator, at peacheswedd@juno.com. A 3 semester hour course is worth 4.5 CEU's.It is suggested that you use an updated web browser to access these course pages. Netscape Navigator is available on-line and can be downloaded for free. You can also benefit from real player basic 7. We have fingerspelling help and other things using streamed video that may be of use to you.
