John A. Logan College's Interpreter Preparation Program, a leader in online education since 1999.

We will begin the two year program cycle again fall 2011. The program was first offered fall of 2007. We have been offering online classes since 1999, but developed our educational interpreting online program because of the need many educational interpreters have for professional development. We are currently offering the program part-time to accomodate working interpreter's schedules.

Federal rules for online institutions have changed. We are working on getting approval to offer our online program in other states. Because of this, we are only offering limited online classes in our program for the 2011-2012 school year. We intend to resume the entire program in the fall of 2012. To read more about the changes in federal regulartions, go to: http://wcet.wiche.edu/advance/state-approval

To find out which classes we are offering, contact Paula Willig.

Apply for admissions online. After you fill out your application, send an e-mail to Paula Willig at paula.willig@jalc.edu so she can register you for classes. To apply for this program you must already be interpreting, or have an associates degree or certificate in interpreting.

Registering for an Online Class:

NEW: Students living anywhere taking our on-line courses pay in district rates. There is also a lab fee for each course that covers the cost of maintaining our internet platform.

If you haven't applied to John A. Logan College, you can apply for admission on-line. Also, please e-mail Paula Willig so she can make sure you are enrolled in the courses that you want to take. Be sure to specify which courses you want in your e-mail. Click on the link for current tuition information.

For more information contact: Paula Willig, Interpreter Program Advisor, 618-985-3741 extension 8456 (voice), 618-985-6018 (VP). During the summer, e-mail is the most reliable way to contact Paula, because she is not on campus regularly.

Equipment Needed:

Before classes start:

Purchase your books or DVD materials so that you have them for the new semester. The majority of the books for your classes are available for purchase online at the John A. Logan College Bookstore. IPP 275, Evaluation Preparation, has DVD materials that cannot be purchased through the bookstore. If you are taking that class, please contact Paula Willig for a list of those materials.

For an orientation to Moodle, go to: https://online.jalc.edu/ and click on the various links under Moodle Information and Support. If you have taken a John A. Logan online class before, you are familiar with Blackboard. We are now using a different webcourse platform, Moodle. I'm sure you will find it easy to navigate.
