John A. Logan Acquires New Recycling Bins

Nine out of ten people say they would recycle more if it were easier. John A. Logan is making it easier for students, faculty, and staff to recycle with the recent addition of new colorful recycling bins. Five sets of the new bins have been conveniently placed around the campus to collect plastic bottles, cans and paper that might otherwise be thrown away.

Recycling of these products saves valuable natural resources, saves landfill space and cuts down on energy use by re-processing items instead of making new ones from raw materials.

Sustainability coordinator Tim Gibson noted that the new bins are themselves made of recycled material and are designed to attract attention and encourage use. They are part of the overall campus recycling effort, and help to visibly demonstrate the college's commitment to recycling. The bins were purchased through the college's Sustainability Center with a grant from the Illinois Green Economy Network.
